Most people don't believe in remote working yet. They keep asking themselves, how can I manage my workers without physically interacting with them, how can I measure their effort if I can't see them, most importantly how can I measure their work progress without everyday standup meetings in person with them? Yeah sure, I understand their concern because I had the same questions before starting learning more and more about online collaboration tools. Now, all my questions are answered. Yes, you can manage your workers without physical interaction by using the according digital tool; yes, you can measure your work progress by having virtual standup meetings and yes to all questions you think you have about remote working.

There are a lot of online collaboration tools out there that are designed to easy up your remote working process. Being a Code of Africa programmer, I am going to share some online tools that I am using during my daily interactions as a programmer with other programmers and also as a programmer with my supervisors and our clients.

#Slack

Slack is a Collaboration Hub, where the right people and the right information come together. Easily to integrate with Apps and services that you and your team already use every day. Its workspaces allow me to organize communications by channels for group discussions and allow for private messages to share information, files, and more all in one place.

#Zoom

Zoom is the leader in modern enterprise video communications, with an easy, reliable cloud platform for video and audio conferencing, chat, and webinars across mobile, desktop, and room systems. I am using Zoom to record sessions, collaborate on projects, and share or annotate on one another's screens, all with one easy-to-use platform.

#Jira

Jira is a powerful project management software for remote teams. It is used for bug tracking, issue tracking, and project management. I am using Jira to plan my sprints, whereas a sprint is a short period in which the development team implements and delivers a discrete and potentially shippable application increment.

#Bitbucket

Bitbucket is a web-based version control repository hosting service owned by Atlassian, for source code and development projects that use either Mercurial or Git revision control systems. Bitbucket is our git repository management solution. It gives us a central place to manage git repositories, collaborate on our source code and guide us through the development flow. It provides awesome features that include: Access control to restrict access to our source code.
